The Broadside Hack is a short documentary film from British Underground exploring the influence of traditional folk songs on a new generation of musicians. The documentary was made in collaboration with Broadside Hacks and features Shovel Dance Collective, Thyrsis, caroline, Broadside Hacks and Boss Morris. It was filmed at Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire in August 2021 and is part of our Looking for a New England series of showcases

Gareth Bonello is a Welsh-speaking musician based in Cardiff who looks to draw on the language, poetry and traditional music of Wales to create modern folk songs. He performs under the moniker The Gentle Good.

Lisa Jên Brown is an actor, singer, writer and songwriter from Bethesda, North Wales. Lisa is the main songwriter and composer for her band 9Bach, signed to Peter Gabriel ’s RealWorld Records and their second album 'Tincian' won Best Album at The BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015. A pivotal point in Lisa's song-writing career was a collaboration with the first nation / indigenous Australian super group Black Arm Band.

N’FAMADY KOUYATÉ
N’famady Kouyate is a Balafon master and traditional drummer from Guinea, West Africa. The first balafon instrument was discovered by the King of Susu, Soumaoro Kanté (11th century of the Ancient African Empire), and it was given to the griot Bala Fassèké Kouyaté. The Kouyatés have been a significant family of storytellers for generations. N’famady is a direct descendant, and one of the stars of the succession of the Mandingue.

Yn 2019/20 cefnogodd Gruff Rhys ar daith ei albwm Pang!.

ShoShona Kish won the Professional Excellence Award at WOMEX 18. WOMEX 18 also saw the inaugural meeting of the World Music Pan-Indigenous Network and looked ahead to the UNESCO International Year of Indigenous Languages in 2019.
